English Version
Time-Travel Healing Short Story: The 14-Year-Old Boy
Characters:
The Heavenly Child and his 14-year-old self
Time Span:
1964, born on the day of Guanyin's birth, originating from the tiny life point—0.2mm fertilized egg before the 10-month gestation period!
Traveling from January 25, 2025, back to April 1, 1978, the time of his 14th birthday, to begin a dialogue with his younger self.
Scene:
The Heavenly Child stood in a boundless tunnel of time, surrounded by flickering light points. As ripples of time swirled around him, his consciousness gently floated, crossing the stream of years until it reached a spring day in 1978.
In another corner of this space, a 14-year-old boy sat by the window, hugging his knees, his eyes full of confusion and helplessness. This was The Heavenly Child as a teenager, lost in the edges of the world.
The Heavenly Child quietly approached him and gently sat down. The 14-year-old boy looked up, his eyes flickering with uncertainty, as if he saw a stranger but also sensed something familiar.
14-Year-Old Boy:
(Softly) "Who are you? Why have you appeared before me? Do you know that I can't make sense of anything right now? I've just lost two loved ones, and my heart is filled with endless confusion. What’s the meaning of life? I keep asking myself, ‘Who am I?’ ‘What am I supposed to do?’"
The Heavenly Child smiled gently, his voice calm but firm: "You are me, and I am you. It’s just that right now you don’t see the whole path. Everything you’re experiencing is a part of your growth. Pain, confusion, doubt—they are all parts of life."
14-Year-Old Boy:
(Frowning) "But why can’t I accept this? Everyone will eventually die. What’s the point of living? I don’t understand why I exist or what I’m supposed to do."
The Heavenly Child listened quietly, his eyes filled with compassion: "These are the very questions many have asked. To live in this world is to experience pain and loss, and at times, even feel the weight of it all. But this is the profound nature of life. It’s because of this pain and confusion that real growth and awakening emerge."
14-Year-Old Boy:
(Eyes growing more distant) "So what should I do? How can I find meaning in this boring life? If everything is destined to disappear, then why should we even bother?"
The Heavenly Child smiled softly, his gaze distant yet warm, as if he could see beyond the horizon of time: "You don’t need to rush to find all the answers. What you see in this world is impermanent. Everything changes. What’s truly important is not searching for a ‘fixed meaning,’ but learning how to live authentically in each moment."
He extended a hand towards the window, pointing to the sunlight filtering through the leaves: "Look, this is proof of life. Do you notice the trees swaying in the breeze? The birds flying in the sky? They don’t ask ‘why do I exist?’ They simply live in the present, enjoying each breath. People can do the same. Learn to let go of the obsession with meaning and just embrace the flow of life as it comes."
14-Year-Old Boy:
(Gradually relaxing his expression) "But… how do I do that? I’ve always felt lost and unable to adapt to the world."
The Heavenly Child gazed at him, his eyes full of wisdom: "First, accept your confusion. It is not your enemy, but the catalyst for deeper awareness. When you stop resisting the confusion, it will become the force that drives you inward. Remember, there are no fixed answers to life. Everyone’s journey is unique. That’s what makes it meaningful."
He paused, reflecting deeply on the nature of existence: "You need to understand that, regardless of what happens, life itself is a gift. The meaning of life may not lie in answering every question but in how you live each moment fully."
14-Year-Old Boy:
(Pause, then a spark of realization in his eyes) "I think I understand. Maybe I don’t need to find all the answers. I can learn to live in the present, let go of my fear of the future, and accept my confusion, accept myself. Maybe life is just about moving through the questions, not necessarily finding all the answers."
The Heavenly Child nodded, his smile full of warmth: "Exactly. Live in the present, embrace impermanence, and in every moment, find your own rhythm. That is the truest way to live."
As these words echoed through the room, the 14-year-old boy stood up, walked to the window, and gazed out at the sunlight pouring over the spring landscape. It felt as though the weight of his confusion had lifted. The rhythm of life began to sync with him, the clouds of doubt starting to part. The sunlight bathed his face, and a new understanding blossomed in his heart.
The Heavenly Child:
He turned gently, his presence a quiet force as he began to fade from the timeline, leaving the 14-year-old boy behind, now beginning to learn how to accept the impermanence of life and live fully in the present.
Conclusion:
The 14-year-old boy stood at the window, a slight smile on his lips, his inner doubts slowly dissolving. A seed had been planted in his heart—that no matter how brief life may seem, living in the present moment is the truest existence. And it all began with a dialogue between himself and The Heavenly Child, unfolding through the lens of time.
