Na Yin Five Elements Prose Poem: “Covered Lamp Fire”
Tianlai Xiaozi contemplates:
The energy flow of “Covered Lamp Fire” resides within the Jin and Mingyi Palace, embodying one Buddha and two Bodhisattvas.
The Buddha—the luminous potential of the Covered Lamp—rests hidden beneath the veil of ignorance, a quiet flame awaiting its moment to shine. It is the essence of all beings, unchanged and undiminished, even when cloaked in darkness.
The first Bodhisattva, Jin, represents the descent of the light into trials, where the fire is tempered by the world’s hardships. It is the Bodhisattva of transformation, refining impurities and igniting the spark of awakening within the furnace of experience.
The second Bodhisattva, Mingyi, carries the lamp through the night. This is the Bodhisattva of endurance, guiding all beings with steady hands, ensuring the flame persists even amidst despair.
Together, the Buddha and Bodhisattvas form the energy flow of the Covered Lamp Fire: the fire that is obscured yet undying, awaiting the moment when the veil is lifted, transforming the Covered Lamp into the Buddha’s radiant, uncovered light.
