天地合其德;
日月合其明;

打虎不离亲兄弟;

Prose Poem: "The I Ching"

The boy of heaven observes:
The I Ching, the I Ching,
Circulating through the six emptinesses,
Simplicity and the middle way.

In the six lines of the hexagram,
Yin and Yang transform within,
The sixty-four hexagrams and the thirty-six palaces,
The middle way within, the Tai Chi has no limit.

Circulating through the six emptinesses,
The first line is hard to understand, the upper line easy to know,
The second line is full of praise, the fifth line full of achievements,
The third line full of misfortune, the fourth full of fear.

Simplicity and the middle way,
The pre-heavenly eight trigrams of Qiankun,
Creation of heaven and earth aligned with virtue;
The post-heavenly eight trigrams of Kan and Li,
The sun and moon aligned with brightness.

Then to the middle-heaven trigrams of Zhen and Gen,
Where tigers are tamed but never leave their brothers;
And to the all-heaven trigrams of Xun and Dui,
Where sisters unite and, with one mind, break gold apart.

The way of the I Ching,
Is the foundation of the universe,
The law of heaven and earth,
The rhythm of all things,
And all transformation,
Springs from this simple yet profound middle way.

In the flow of the six emptinesses,
Every rise and fall of a line contains wisdom,
Every breeze, every drop of water,
Speaks to you,
The great way is formless,
The changes are endless,
And yet it always returns to one,
Still and unmoving, moving yet inexhaustible.
