“The Living Dead”

The young seeker reflects inward:

Within, trapped in the prison of unconsciousness,

like a lone boat lost in a fog,

its direction indiscernible,

its inner light extinguished, leaving no path to follow.

Without, shrouded by the heavy veil of collective unconsciousness,

like endless layers of dark clouds,

obscuring the sun, moon, and stars,

burying truth in the abyss,

and shaping illusions into reality.

Such is the state of Schrödinger’s cat,

both alive and dead, both clear and obscure,

hovering between existence and nothingness,

wavering endlessly,

neither fully alive nor truly dead.

Even Wang Chongyang found himself at a loss,

facing the illusory game of sentient beings,

sighing over the vanity of life,

he named it “the living dead,”

both a lament and a warning bell.

Alas!

Those who live without awareness,

their bodies may move,

but their spirits have fallen silent.

Without the will to break free,

their lives become a prison,

with no day of self-realization in sight.

The young seeker sighs again:

Only by awakening to both inner and outer worlds,

by breaking the chains of unconsciousness,

and tearing through the web of collective delusion,

can one awaken from the dream,

to see the light, see the Dao, and see the true self.

The living dead

are not truly dead,

but a life yet to begin.
