1. **Awakening to All Dharmas**:  

*Awakening* signifies complete realization, while *comprehension* represents full enlightenment. *All dharmas* encompass the conditioned phenomena of the Ten Realms, the unconditioned reality of the One True Dharma Realm, and the ineffable nature of the Eternal Light Land. This is the attainment of wisdom, where the wise are free from confusion.

2. **Like a Dream, an Illusion, an Echo**:  

*Like* indicates a complete resemblance. *Dream* refers to nocturnal dreams, *illusion* to daytime mirages, and *echo* to the reverberation in an empty room. The Ten Realms are like a dream; the One True Dharma Realm is an illusion; the Eternal Light Land is an echo. A dream, despite its many events, is ultimately unattainable, thus, one understands that “Buddha’s work is but a dream”; an illusion, though vividly lifelike, is fundamentally void; an echo, though manifesting wondrously according to conditions, inherently lacks any substance. This is the accomplishment of the deep and subtle Zen of the Pureland, where one can pass through a field of flowers without a single leaf clinging to them.

3. **Fulfilling All Sublime Vows**:  

*Fulfillment* means perfect and without flaws, and *sufficiency* refers to inherent completeness. *All sublime vows* denote the 48 vows of Amitabha. Here, it gently guides one to realize that the great vows of the “Self-nature Amitabha” reside within the practitioner’s own life, not acquired externally. It is essential to recognize that the Western Amitabha is the reward body of the practitioner’s Self-nature Amitabha; the Self-nature Amitabha and the Western Amitabha are neither one nor two.

4. **Certainly Establishing Such a Land**:  

*Certainly* implies steady progress, and *establishing* refers to the blooming of the lotus in the dust of the world. *Such a land* is the Pureland created by the mind alone. The first two phrases guide the attainment of the reward body of Buddhahood, symbolized by Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva, representing the consummation of prajna wisdom, free from delusion. The third phrase touches on the compassionate re-manifestation as the transformation body Buddha, symbolized by Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva, embodying formless compassion, free from sorrow. The final phrase concludes with the fearless and unsurpassed bodhi of the Dharma body Buddha, living fully in the present, symbolized by Amitabha Buddha.
