Teaching of Self-Examination of Human Nature: Living Fully and Authentically

The Teaching of Self-Examination of Human Nature is about understanding who we truly are and how we fit into the world. It guides us to live in harmony with ourselves, with others, and with the natural flow of life.

1. Understanding Human Nature: Who We Are at Our Core

  • What Makes Us Human: We all have a natural sense of goodness, wisdom, and the ability to do what’s right. This is what makes us human.
  • The Bigger Picture: At the same time, we’re part of something greater—the order of the universe, often called the "Mandate of Heaven." This gives us a sense of purpose and connection.
  • Looking Within: By reflecting on ourselves—our thoughts, feelings, and actions—we can uncover this natural goodness and live authentically.

2. Practicing Harmony: Bringing Our Body, Words, and Mind Together

Living authentically means aligning the three parts of ourselves:

  1. Body
    • Our actions should reflect kindness, integrity, and care.
    • We can make a difference by acting in ways that help others and ourselves.
  2. Speech
    • The way we communicate matters. Speaking with love and honesty builds understanding and trust.
    • Balancing wisdom with compassion makes our words powerful and meaningful.
  3. Mind
    • A clear and calm mind helps us see things as they really are.
    • Mindfulness—being aware of the present moment—keeps us grounded and free from unnecessary worry or confusion.

When these three parts work together, we feel balanced and at peace.

3. Finding Harmony in Three Dimensions of Life

Self-examination isn’t just about ourselves; it’s about how we relate to the world around us:

  1. Our Inner World (Me)
    • Taking time to understand our true selves helps us live with confidence and clarity.
  2. Relationships (You)
    • Building connections with others through compassion and understanding brings harmony into our lives.
  3. The Bigger Picture (Them)
    • Recognizing that we’re part of a larger world helps us live in tune with nature and the universe.

4. Living in the Deepness of the Present Moment

  • The Deepness of Everyday Life: Life’s true value isn’t hidden somewhere far away—it’s right here, in the simple things we do, say, and think every day.
  • Authentic Experience: By aligning our body, words, and mind, we open ourselves to life’s full richness and meaning.

Living Fully and Authentically

This teaching is about being present, authentic, and connected. It invites us to:

  1. Know Ourselves: Reflect on our true nature and purpose.
  2. Align Our Lives: Bring our actions, words, and thoughts into harmony.
  3. Build Connections: Live in a way that nurtures ourselves, our relationships, and our place in the world.

Through self-examination and authentic experience, we discover how to live deeply and fully in each moment. This is the art of being truly alive.
