My breakthrough in the thinking this morning:

"Outside-in" means "come in and not to be trapped in outside" 【崃按：“自外而内”指的不是“从外在世界到内在世界去”，而是“从外在世界进来一步”，重点是不要“受困于外在世界”】

"Inside-out" means "go out and not to be trapped in inside" 【崃按：“自内而外”指的不是“从内在世界到外在世界来”，而是“从内在世界出来一步”，重点是不要“受困于内在世界”】

Together, they mean “not to be trapped neither inside nor outside by adjusting ourselves flexibly.” 【崃按：总之，我们应灵活调整自己生命的空间维度，要做到既不受困于外在世界，也不受困于内在世界。
