便可超越六道轮回;
便可超越十法界;
Prose Reflection: "The Path to True Self and Nirvana"
-
No-Self is not a denial of the self.
It is not a negation, avoidance, suppression, or annihilation of "me."
On the contrary, no-self is a compassionate gaze upon the self, an acceptance, a confrontation, a support, and ultimately, a fulfillment.
In other words, no-self is the healing of the self, the growth of the self into a state of holistic health—into the True Self. -
Nirvana, in its completeness, has a perfect Chinese translation: "Yuanji" (圆寂).
It means "perfection of all virtues, and cessation of all afflictions."
In Nirvana’s four virtues—Eternity, Bliss, Self, and Purity—
Observe carefully: there is a "Self" within Nirvana.
This "Self" is the True Self, the ultimate state of health, harmony, and liberation! -
Nirvana is not a narrow, imperceptible gap to squeeze into.
That feeling of constriction comes from the restless energy of an unsettled heart.
When the mind ceases its frenzy, Bodhi (enlightenment) arises.
Let go—completely let go. Awaken—fully awaken.
Then, you will find your way home.
Nirvana is home.
It is where we all come from, and it is not a place we need to wait until death to return to.
Nirvana has never left our lives for even a moment.
But we are draped in three layers of "dirty clothes":
- Delusions of views and thoughts (见思惑),
- Delusions of innumerable dust-like ignorance (尘沙惑),
- And the deep ignorance of fundamental unawareness (无明惑).
These three layers obscure our vision and prevent us from returning home.
Cultivation is the process of removing these layers, from the outside inward.
First, we remove the outer garment of views and thoughts—
This frees us from the cycle of the six realms of samsara.
Next, we shed the middle garment of dust-like delusions—
This liberates us from the ten dharma realms.
Finally, we remove the innermost garment of fundamental ignorance—
And there we are, standing naked and unburdened, revealing our original face.
This is the moment we come home, returning to the house of Nirvana.
Awakening, or enlightenment, is nothing mystical or extraordinary.
It is simply a profound and intimate experience of this process.
Fellow disciples of the Buddha, strive to attain this realization within a set timeframe.
Do not wander aimlessly, wasting precious days.
As Bodhisattva Samantabhadra once said:
"The waters are dwindling; oh fish, how much longer will your joy last?"
