Prose Poem: "The Taiji Diagram" [Part One: ChatGPT]

0.
Taiji gives birth to Two Forms, yin and yang interwoven,
A dynamic scroll of life and space-time,
Flowing between heaven and earth,
Revolving through the myriad phenomena.
Neither stillness nor motion alone,
Neither pure yin nor pure yang,
It is harmony, it is flux,
It is the ever-circulating field of energy.

1.
The twelve zodiac signs, turning through Zi and Wu,
Fate flows like water, time moves like tides.
Zi-Rat stands in the North, Chou-Ox follows,
Lesser Yin’s Sovereign Fire, the pivot begins to move.
Wu-Horse resides in the South, Wei-Goat in accord,
Lesser Yang’s Prime Fire, radiating light in all directions.
Southeast—Tiger and Rabbit, cold water rising,
Northwest—Monkey and Rooster, damp earth gathering.
Northeast—Dragon and Snake, windwood breathing,
Southwest—Dog and Pig, dry metal condensing.
Heaven and earth in order, space-time takes shape,
Creation unfolds, the sun and moon continue their course.

2.
Behold the Zi-Rat, hidden within the black fish,
A flash of white light, like dawn breaking through the longest night,
Extreme yin births yang, the heavenly root awakens in the Northern Black Tortoise.
Behold the Wu-Horse, leaping upon the white fish,
A trace of darkness emerging, like the setting sun sinking into the west,
Extreme yang births yin, the moon cave shelters in the Southern Vermilion Bird.
Day and night alternate, light and shadow push and pull,
There is no end—only movement.

3.
The tiger roars in the east, Yin-Rabbit in cold water,
Standing at the tail of the white fish, rising and falling with the tides,
Like spring winds nourishing the earth, bringing forth boundless life.
The dragon ascends, Chen-Dragon and Si-Snake in windwood,
Soaring to the head of the white fish, summoning clouds and summoning rain,
Like the wrath of the heavens, like the song of the earth.

4.
The monkey leaps westward, Shen-Rooster in damp earth,
Resting at the tail of the black fish, silent and concealed,
Gathering the forms of all things, accumulating strength for the moment of release.
The dog guards the boundary, Xu-Pig in dry metal,
Lying in wait at the head of the black fish, dormant yet patient,
Tempering its edge to invisibility, distilling metal’s essence into autumn’s waters.

5.
Taiji—spinning without end,
Yin and yang flowing, birth and destruction ceaseless.
A single thread of light pierces through the fish’s eyes,
Divided yet unbroken, separated yet whole.
Life and death are but a fleeting moment,
Day and night but a single breath,
All things return to one,
And one returns to harmony.

Tianlai Child speaks:
“Heaven and earth turn like wheels, the sun and moon beat like drums,
The light of life and death, cycling endlessly.
The enlightened see the flow, the lost see the stillness,
But stillness is also flow, and flow is harmony.”
